SCHOOL HOLIDAY SOCCER FUN AT BLIGH PARK

Due to the recent wet weather, our annual “Soccer Winter Fun” program will now be held on July 17th & 18th at Bounty Reserve Bligh Park.

This is a fun way to spend two full mornings with lots of games, competitions and fun drills for players and families from our club.

  • Limited places on the program – so book early.
  • Booking and payment can only be made at the club canteen or by special arrangements with a club committee member.
  • The course is run by senior club coaches with over 10 years experience and they are assisted by players from the under 15/16 age groups.
  • The program is available to members of B.P.S.C. and families.
  • Head for the club canteen. Fill out the application form and pay the registration money and providing you don’t leave it until the last minute, you should secure a place.

To Download a flyer for the program, click on the link below. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader (or similar) to view the file.

Volunteers for the BPSC Presentation Committee Required

Every year BPSC invites Club Members to join the Presentation sub-committee. To date we have received some expressions of interest, but require some more assistance. These are very important events for our players, so if you are interested in volunteering some time and assisting the club with the arrangements of the junior & senior presentation days, please contact the club committee on 0407926375 or 0439613064. Your efforts will be greatly appreciated.

News From The Annual General Meeting

The club’s annual general meeting took place at Windsor RSL this evening, and as the rain trickled down the windows, the retiring committee took its leave, and those present welcomed in a new committee to guide the club through 2008.

The 2008 BPSC Committee

President Peter Schillinger - 0407 926375

Secretary Darren Sharvell

Treasurer Peter Roach

Vice President: Peter Woodworth

Registrar: Carlos Palacios 0425320403

Canteen Manager: Wendy Schillinger

Equipment Officer: Jack Putland

Grounds Officer: Peter Gates

Grading Officer: Malcolm Fraser

Committee Member: Anthony Holton

Committee Member: Darrell Williams

There was an important change made to the club constitution at the meeting. Since the formation of the club, it has been the practice to bestow life membership on persons who have completed 10 years continuous service to the club in some form. Whilst there is definitely a time and place to honour long service in any form, it has blurred the reasons for bestowing life membership on persons who have made an outstanding contribution to the club. In most organizations, life membership is only awarded to persons who have provided a service to the club over and beyond what might be expected of someone in a particular position.

The meeting acknowledged endorsed the proposed change and this will be effective in 2008. Players, managers, coaches and committee members who have given 10 years unbroken service will receive a long service award, but in the future a life membership will be awarded only on the rare occasions that the club receives a nomination that is deemed suitable by the members.

SO WHY DID YOU MISS YOUR GAME TODAY?

We often ask people why they missed an important event; what prevented them from sharing a particular experience that was enjoyed by a group of friends, and in that context, I have compiled the top ten reasons for missing out on taking part in a final or semi final of a soccer tournament.

The reasons stated do not condone or condemn, nor are they judgmental in any way. They are a bit of fun and simply reflect a variety of approaches and attitudes to sport and soccer in particular.
